Snapshots allows a new node to join the network by recovering application state from a backup file. Snapshot contains compressed copy of chain data directory. To keep backup files as small as plausible, snapshot server is periodically beeing state-synced.

Snapshots are taken automatically every 12 hours

Quick setup

One liner to get moving quickly

sudo systemctl stop akash
cp $HOME/.akash/data/priv_validator_state.json $HOME/.akash/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf $HOME/.akash/data
curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/snapshots/akash/akash_18398982.tar.lz4 | tar -Ilz4 -xf - -C $HOME/.akash
mv $HOME/.akash/priv_validator_state.json.backup $HOME/.akash/data/priv_validator_state.json
sudo systemctl start akash && sudo journalctl -u akash -f --no-hostname -o cat

Stop akash and reset the data

sudo systemctl stop akash
cp $HOME/.akash/data/priv_validator_state.json $HOME/.akash/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf $HOME/.akash/data

Download latest snapshot

curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/snapshots/akash/akash_18398982.tar.lz4 | tar -Ilz4 -xf - -C $HOME/.akash
mv $HOME/.akash/priv_validator_state.json.backup $HOME/.akash/data/priv_validator_state.json

Restart akash and check the log

sudo systemctl start akash && sudo journalctl -u akash -f --no-hostname -o cat
