Snapshot

Snapshots allows a new node to join the network by recovering application state from a backup file. Snapshot contains compressed copy of chain data directory. To keep backup files as small as plausible, snapshot server is periodically beeing state-synced.

Snapshots are taken automatically every 12 hours

Quick setup

One liner to get moving quickly

sudo systemctl stop sided
cp .side/data/priv_validator_state.json .side/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf .side/data
curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/testnet-snapshots/side/side_90735.tar.lz4 | tar -Ilz4 -xf - -C .side
mv .side/priv_validator_state.json.backup .side/data/priv_validator_state.json
sudo systemctl start sided && sudo journalctl -u sided -f --no-hostname -o cat

Stop sided and reset the data

sudo systemctl stop sided
cp .side/data/priv_validator_state.json .side/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf .side/data

Download latest snapshot

Restart sided and check the log
