Snapshots allows a new node to join the network by recovering application state from a backup file. Snapshot contains compressed copy of chain data directory. To keep backup files as small as plausible, snapshot server is periodically beeing state-synced.

Snapshots are taken automatically every 12 hours

Quick setup

One liner to get moving quickly

sudo systemctl stop syntd
cp $HOME/.amber/data/priv_validator_state.json $HOME/.amber/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf $HOME/.amber/data
curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/snapshots/synternet/synternet_2190770.tar.lz4 | tar -axf - -C $HOME/.amber
mv $HOME/.amber/priv_validator_state.json.backup $HOME/.amber/data/priv_validator_state.json
sudo systemctl start syntd && sudo journalctl -u syntd -f --no-hostname -o cat

Stop syntd and reset the data

sudo systemctl stop syntd
cp $HOME/.amber/data/priv_validator_state.json $HOME/.amber/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf $HOME/.amber/data

Download latest snapshot

curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/snapshots/synternet/synternet_2190770.tar.lz4 | tar -axf - -C $HOME/.amber
mv $HOME/.amber/priv_validator_state.json.backup $HOME/.amber/data/priv_validator_state.json

Restart syntd and check the log
