Snapshots allows a new node to join the network by recovering application state from a backup file. Snapshot contains compressed copy of chain data directory. To keep backup files as small as plausible, snapshot server is periodically beeing state-synced.

Snapshots are taken automatically every 12 hours

Quick setup

One liner to get moving quickly

sudo systemctl stop secretd
cp $HOME/.secretd/data/priv_validator_state.json $HOME/.secretd/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf $HOME/.secretd/data
curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/snapshots/secretnetwork/secretnetwork_17043205.tar.zst | tar -axf - -C $HOME/.secretd
mv $HOME/.secretd/priv_validator_state.json.backup $HOME/.secretd/data/priv_validator_state.json
sudo systemctl start secretd && sudo journalctl -u secretd -f --no-hostname -o cat

Stop secretd and reset the data

sudo systemctl stop secretd
cp $HOME/.secretd/data/priv_validator_state.json $HOME/.secretd/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf $HOME/.secretd/data

Download latest snapshot

curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/snapshots/secretnetwork/secretnetwork_17043205.tar.zst | tar -axf - -C $HOME/.secretd
mv $HOME/.secretd/priv_validator_state.json.backup $HOME/.secretd/data/priv_validator_state.json

Restart secretd and check the log

sudo systemctl start secretd && sudo journalctl -u secretd -f --no-hostname -o cat
