Snapshots allows a new node to join the network by recovering application state from a backup file. Snapshot contains compressed copy of chain data directory. To keep backup files as small as plausible, snapshot server is periodically beeing state-synced.

Snapshots are taken automatically every 12 hours

One liner to get moving quickly

sudo systemctl stop neutrond
cp .neutrond/data/priv_validator_state.json .neutrond/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf .neutrond/data
curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/testnet-snapshots/neutron/neutron_22253786.tar.zst | tar -axf - -C .neutrond
mv .neutrond/priv_validator_state.json.backup .neutrond/data/priv_validator_state.json
sudo systemctl start neutrond && sudo journalctl -u neutrond -f --no-hostname -o cat

Stop neutrond and reset the data

sudo systemctl stop neutrond
cp .neutrond/data/priv_validator_state.json .neutrond/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf .neutrond/data

Download latest snapshot

curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/testnet-snapshots/neutron/neutron_22253786.tar.zst | tar -axf - -C .neutrond
mv .neutrond/priv_validator_state.json.backup .neutrond/data/priv_validator_state.json

Restart neutrond and check the log

sudo systemctl start neutrond && sudo journalctl -u neutrond -f --no-hostname -o cat
