Snapshots allows a new node to join the network by recovering application state from a backup file. Snapshot contains compressed copy of chain data directory. To keep backup files as small as plausible, snapshot server is periodically beeing state-synced.

Snapshots are taken automatically every 12 hours

Quick setup

One liner to get moving quickly

sudo systemctl stop xplad
cp $HOME/.xpla/data/priv_validator_state.json $HOME/.xpla/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf $HOME/.xpla/data
curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/snapshots/xpla/xpla_11039471.tar.lz4 | tar -Ilz4 -xf - -C $HOME/.xpla
mv $HOME/.xpla/priv_validator_state.json.backup $HOME/.xpla/data/priv_validator_state.json
sudo systemctl start xplad && sudo journalctl -u xplad -f --no-hostname -o cat

Stop xplad and reset the data

sudo systemctl stop xplad
cp $HOME/.xpla/data/priv_validator_state.json $HOME/.xpla/priv_validator_state.json.backup
rm -rf $HOME/.xpla/data

Download latest snapshot

curl -L https://snapshots.lavenderfive.com/snapshots/xpla/xpla_11039471.tar.lz4 | tar -Ilz4 -xf - -C $HOME/.xpla
mv $HOME/.xpla/priv_validator_state.json.backup $HOME/.xpla/data/priv_validator_state.json

Restart xplad and check the log

sudo systemctl start xplad && sudo journalctl -u xplad -f --no-hostname -o cat
